Gudiyattam Parish
It was on Ist July 1964, that Gudiyattam was canonically erected into a separate Parish and Fr. Jose Lawrence installed a first Parish Priest. To him fell the lot of Constructing a new presbytery and a new Church, which were blessed on 24th June 1969 and 20th Sept., 1970 respectively. For almost 10 years Fr. Luwrence continued to work talons thin pow Parish and has improved it on many lines. Th: Titular of the parish is St. John the Baptist. In 1974, after the transfer of Fr. Lawrence, Fr. C. Edampadam took charge of the Parish With the motive of drawing more souls to Christ the new P. P. Began meeting the Hindu families. He built a new Grotto to Our Lady of Vallankanni and took the value solemnly into the streets of Gudiyattam on 27th Feb, 1977, now many are embracing Christianity. 54 families in Sandathoor, 19 at Paltalakuppam, 15 at Puthoor and 13 at Perompet were baptised by the bishop in the past two years, even now Catechumens are being prepared for Baptism in some of the villages, The Parish Priest and his enthusiastic catechists are fully involved in evangelizing as many as possible.
