Theresapuram Parish
The place, where Tererapuram is situated now, was a forest about 50 years ago a great Indian Missionary, Fr. S. Paul, gad turned it into a fine village of 30 families and built a Chapel there. His successors paid great attention to the development of the village. Observing its steady and rapid growth both spiritually and materially, His Lordship, David Mariyanayagam. Made it a Parish in the year 1958. Today, this Parish is proud of having produced a native priest and a Nun, a few graduates a dozen teachers and 42 pre-metric students in Various boardings and convents. The Catholic strength of the Parish has gone up to 1.150 under the able guidance of Fr. S. T. Ignatius, the prestart Vicar General of Vellore Diocese, The Parish has many Associations like Legion of Mary, Our Lady’s Sodality and Catholic Association. Kodiyalam, Arumgunam and Nerkunam are its sub-stations. It has Primary school. St. Teresa’s Convent, St. Anne’s Home for the aged and St. Anne’s Dispensary are the other institution functioning at Teresapuram. Fr. Thomas Kaipaily is the present Parish Priest.
