Tiruvannamalai Parish
Tiruvannamalai Parish was established in the year 1972 and V. Rev. Fr. Capiaghi, s D. Was appointed as its first Parish Priest. During the brief period of his absence abroad, Fr. K. K. Joseph and later Fr. A T. Thomas were in charge of the Parish. Todate Fr. F. Capiaghi continues to be the Parisht Pries of Tiruvannamalai and its Vicar Forane. On 30—1974, Teresian Carmelite Sisters took charge of the nursery school. On -12 -1974, a new Church constructed by Fr. Capiaghi at Kilnathur village was blessed by the Bishop of Vellore, Rt. Rev R Anthony Muthu. On 2-2-1975, Sisters of Our Lady of Grace and Compassion, England, started a Home for the aged. On 10-10-1977, the Parish House and Mount Saint Joseph Home were blessed and opened by the Pro-Nuncio to India, who also laid the foundation stones for the new Parish Church and for the Home for the Aged. The Parish has 12 sub-stations and one elementary school. The total number of Catholics in the Parish is 1,765.
