Budhamangalam Parish (CPPS)
Christianity dawned upon this mission as early as 1878 doo to the efforts of Fr. Darras, the Apostle of North Arcot. Fr. Huguet and Fr. Boyer of the Paris Foreign Mission followed his footsteps. Boothamangalam had a small Chapel on the rock and a school for the urchins of the Village. Frs. Monchalin, Ryan, Isaac and Vanchipura contributed their mite to build up this quasi-Parish. Then there was a lull and the Mission was vacant from 1952 to 1960. In 1960, Fr. D. A. Arokiaramy began his work in the Mission In 1969, the it was attached to the Diocese of Vellore in virtue of the Roman Decree In 1972. Fr. A. Amirthana thun entered the Mission and renovated the Church and the School. As he was transferred Fr. M. Royappa took charge of the Mission in 1974 The Mission of Boodi meglio was canonically erected as a Parish on 24th January 1975. In the same year end December 21st, a new Church at Mekkalur, one of the Sub-stations, was blessed. With the help of Mice and other donor agencies, Fr. Royappa put up also a presbytery at Mekkalur, which was blessed on 14th September 1976.
