Tirupattur Parish (Salesians)

Tirupattur was part of Koviloor Mission. The Parish of Mary Help of Christians was established in 1935 and attached to the Salesian House, since 1961, the Parish has its own Church and presbytery. It was made Salesian Religious Parish is 1976. It has a Catholic population of 1.575 and has mission stations, The present Parish Priest is V. Rev. Fr. Joseph D. Amaladass, s.D.B., who is also the vicar forane of Tirupattur Vicariate. In the Parish, The Auxilium Social Service Society, a registered society, undertakes numerous social works. There is an Auxilium Hall and Youth Centre in which study clauses ure held for 95 poor boys. The Auxilium Shorthand and Typewriting institute School of Commerce approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu, has a total strength of 135 students, 65 boys and 70 girls The Auxilium Technical Training Centre, approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu, (Craftsmen). Has 13 apprentices. The Auxilium Boys Home offers shelter to 13 destitute children. The Free Dispensary, attended by local medical practitioners and the sisters of St. Charles, caters to about S00 patients monthly. The Auxilium Co-operative Dairy benefits 10 families. Free meals are given twice daily to 150 poor children. Under the Auxilium Housing Scheme, Tencent houses have been built, Sunday Oratory is conducted by the Salesian Sisters, the average attendance being 350 Two girls of this Parish have become nuns in the Congregation of the Sitters of Our Lady of Grace and Compassion
